Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge to feature world’s best rally drivers
Some of the world’s top rally drivers are set to compete alongside leading UAE riders in the upcoming Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge.
The race across the testing desert terrain forms the third round of the FIA World Cup for Cross Country Rallies for cars and buggies. It’s also the opening round of the FIM Cross Country Rallies World Championship for bikes and quads.
Local star Khalid Al Qassimi defends the cars title that he won in exciting fashion 12 months ago, but faces tough competition from two-time winners Vladimir Vasilyev and Konstantin Zhiltsov, as well as Jakub Przygonski, who won the Dubai International Baja with co-driver Tom Colsoul.
Meanwhile, in the bikes category, Mohammed Al Balooshi will go into the race full of confidence after claiming his maiden World Cup victory in Dubai.
Based at Yas Marnia Circuit, the Desert Challenge takes place from March 24 – 29.
