83% of UAE residents share personal information digitally
83% of UAE residents share personal information digitally including photos and videos of their children.

That’s according to a new study by Kaspersky lab, which also showed that 56% share other people’s private and sensitive media.

One in five people give out personal data to people they don’t know well, with 14% admitting to having shared the PIN for their device with a stranger.

Dr Sarah Rasmi, Psychologist & Professor at the United Arab Emirates University, tells us why people take the risk.

      
48% of internet users in the Emirates share their personal information with total strangers with the younger generation has the worst habits in terms of sharing personal data.

20% of residents admit to sharing sensitive data with people they don’t know including passport scans, driving licences and passwords, exposing themselves to both financial attack and identity theft.

There are also dangers in uploading photos and videos on social media, as explained by Dr Sarah Rasmi.
