6 Ways To Spend Your Weekend #TheTicket
Ashley Cadzow, our resident young man around town, turned 22 last week. Even at that ripe old age he can still spot a good time to be had on a weekend. Here are his tips for how to spend yours, this week.
Kempinski Mall of the Emirates
6pm – 3am
Talk to a girl in this city about ladies night and the first thing they’ll tell you is that the next day is a write-off. It’s a fantastic idea, but mid-week madness isn’t for everyone.
Noir is a gorgeous bar that popped up a few months ago and has very quietly been a success with next-to-no communication. The interior is absolutely beautiful, delicious food (the wagyu tataki is a personal favourite), not to mention the deliberately affordable drinks.
To give the ladies a fighting chance, they’ve just launched Bite Marks, a new Thursday night for the girls. Expect unlimited grape and bubbles with 50% off food from 6-9pm, and then 5 drinks vouches for the rest of the night – an absolutely perfect deal if you’re looking for a vibey start to the evening, or if you want to come down a little bit later!
Go to the ballet
Dubai Opera, The Opera District, Downtown Dubai
There’s a double bill of ballet at Dubai Opera this weekend, with Coppélia on the stage tonight and Saturday and Giselle on Friday. Both performances are put on by the world-class Russian State Ballet of Siberia, both are 19th century and both tell the tales of strong leading ladies with one thing in common – rubbish boyfriends.
Tickets are AED350 a pop, so gets your suits and gowns ready for a lavish evening on the town.
Friday September 16
Grito de Dolores (Mexican Independence Day)
Muchachas Mexican Cantina

The latest home-grown concept from the boys behind Tom&Serg, The Sum of Us, Brunswick Sports Club and Common Grounds, celebrates the best mexican food (and it’s licensed!) hidden away in the Holiday Inn, Al Safa (Next to Safa Park, Opposite the Mariott Marquis).
This weekend you can dive into all-you-can-eat tacos for AED 100 and 50% off jugs of your favourite latino cocktails! From flank to spiced seabass, twice cooked veal and more, there’s loads of tacos to get you in the fiesta mood.
Celebrate Notting Hill Carnival
Pier 7, Dubai Marina
12pm – 2am
In honour of the famous Notting Hill Carnival, British restaurant The Scene are putting on a wee bit of a party this weekend. They’ve said it’ll be a fiesta where “nothing is too tacky, and the concept of too much glitter is nonexistent”, I’m expecting sequins, feather boas and shoes that will inevitably come off.
There’ll be loads of delicious Caribbean treats as well as reggae and dub beats from everyones favourite DJ Lobito, not to mention the carnival dancers and steel drummers to bring the noise!
