$450 million ‘Da Vinci painting’ heads to Louvre Abu Dhabi
A 500-year-old painting believed to be the work of Leonardo da Vinci, which was auctioned for $450 million (around AED 1.6 billion) last month, is heading to the Louvre Abu Dhabi.
“Da Vinci’s Salvator Mundi is coming to #LouvreAbuDhabi,” the museum said on Twitter.
The sale beat the previous record for Pablo Picasso’s “The Women of Algiers (Version O)”, which sold for $179.4 million in 2015.
Auction house Christie’s had sold the painting to an anonymous buyer.
