Police in Dubai have reportedly seized AED 800,000 worth of the drug Tramadol – in a sting operation that led to the arrest of three men.
It followed a tip-off that the group were holding a large quantity of pills, that they allegedly planned to sell to youngsters.
In a joint effort between Dubai and Sharjah Police, authorities tracked the men down, meeting at a bus stop in Al Barsha.
According to media reports, officers searched their car and apartments after one of the men confessed – discovering a total of 78,000 Tramadol pills.
All three have been charged with possessing drugs and one with drug abuse, after tests found traces of the pill in his blood.
The case has been referred to prosecutors.
