Big Break Winner – Devayani Dayal and She Moves Company

It’s been a long journey for Devayani Dayal who was actually a Big Break contestant on the very first night of the competition when it launched last year. She’s since fought off some extremely tough opposition, impressing the judges with her relentless enthusiasm, product passion and sales prowess, helping to earn her the highly coveted winner’s title.  Last Thursday night saw Devayani go head to head with Orit Mohammed representing Boon Coffee. It was certainly a tense evening as the two ladies battled it in the final showdown, competing to produce the most compelling radio advert and getting one last chance to pitch their company’s vision for the future. In the end, just one point separated the winner and runner-up, prompting an unprecedented number of listener messages from people wanting to offer their support or to have their say on who should go through! If you want to revisit key moments of the contest, you can browse the podcast segment on this page. Here’s Devayani summing up her time on the Big Break.

As the ultimate prize winner, Devayani is starting to plan how to spend her allocation of advertising spend. It equals AED 250,000 worth of radio space and can be spent across the Arabian Radio Network on our English, Arabic, Hindi, Malayalam and Farsi speaking stations. All Devayani has to do know is to fine-tune those newly acquired production skills to ensure the adverts we’ll be hearing do justice to She Moves. Here’s a reminder of the advert Devayani put together. Remember, she had just ten minutes to independently script this. Then a further fifteen minutes to pick out music and produce the advert with an editor.

Devayani is also looking ahead to the next stage of her working life in her new, fully-serviced office at Dubai Airport Free Zone.

The official handover to the ‘Big Break’ winner of Advertising on ARN to the value of AED 250,000 and a key for a new fully-serviced office in Dubai Airport Freezone:

And to our runner up… Orit from Boon Coffee

Boon Coffee is a UAE based company born from a passion for good coffee – fresh and simple – and from the desire to bring to this region one of the finest premium Arabica coffee in the world, straight from the farmers.

Most coffee in the UAE and the Middle East is first purchased by large coffee importers, shipped to as far west as the United States or as far east as Australia, before it is blended and exported back to this region.

What differentiates Boon Coffee here is that they bring to the Middle East fresh, single-origin, fair traded, organically grown, 100% Arabica coffee beans, straight from the birthplace of coffee, Ethiopia.  We only bring premium beans which are then sold as green or roasted skillfully in Dubai, which allow them to capture the pick flavor of the coffee and deliver freshly to customers.

Due to the proximity of the UAE to Ethiopia, Boon can guarantee delivery of coffee from the most current harvest. Coffee lovers will be able to enjoy a coffee a few weeks after it has been picked and not after the usual months or even years.

Boon Coffee is about celebrating the finest coffee in the world and the traditions and people behind it, that’s why they are committed to give back a portion of their profit directly for educating children in the farming communities and building futures.
